Abba Plant Hire adds the large Genie GTH 5022 R telehandler to its access fleet of 70 units.

UK rental company, Abba Plant Hire, has introduced the largest rotating Genie telehandler to their fleet. The GTH 5022 R telehandler is the first of its kind in the UK and will join Abba Plant Hire's fleet of predominantly Genie machines.

The rough terrain rotating telehandler offers lift capacity of 5000 kg (11000 lb) and a maximum lifting height of 21.93 m (72 ft). Abba Plant Hire is confident that its new GTH 5022 R will be well received by end-users.

Manager, Nick Howe said, "It is not expected to have much rest over the next few years. We already have demand from various segments of the construction sector. This machine is ideal for many applications such as: steel erection, masonry and framing, commercial and residential construction, landscape and agriculture."

Established in the 1980's by John Martin-Hoyes, Abba Plant Hire originally specialised in the hire of compact plant and large excavators, only recently moving into the aerial work platform industry where it operates under the name of APH Cranes and Access. In just over a year, the company has established a fleet of over 70 Genie units which include a full range of scissor lifts, articulating and telescopic booms, and telehandlers.

Mr Martin-Hoyes, said "We were latecomers to the powered access scene and regret that we didn't get into it earlier, but for the past 18 months we have put a lot of effort into getting this side of the business established and we're certain our £1.85 m investment into Genie products will pay off."
