Genie platforms benefit from new paintwork

Terex Aerial Work Platforms has invested in improvements to the paint process used at its scissor lift production facility in Coventry, UK.

The system has been overhauled to include a new washing treatment to prepare the equipment before the paint is applied. This ensures cleaner components and better paint adhesion.

The paint has also been improved, with a new high resistant paint being introduced that is very durable, offering better rust protection, as well as working better with custom colours.

“On the whole this process is beneficial for our customers because it is helping to increase machine life and making the popular Genie blue colour last longer. Also, another advantage is faster custom painting service for customers who wish to utilise the colours of their own company branding,” said Neal Nowick, general manager of the Terex Coventry factory.

The new paint process is being applied to Genie GS-1530, -1532, -1930, -1932, -2632, -2032, -2046, -2646, -3246 and -4047 electric scissor lift models.

The Coventry facility manufactures Genie scissor lifts sold in the EMEAR region. Additional changes recently made at the production line include improvements to mechanical cleaning to remove carbon edges as a result of laser cutting. New chemical pre-treatments are also being used to reinforce the adhesion of paint coatings to the machines’ bodywork providing long-term protection.
