Indian Renter Looks For Lifts

20 March 2008

One of many visitors from India at Bauma was Rakesh Modi, pictured here, who is running the access rental division of Madras Tools &Shackles Ltd (MtandT).

Mtandt Infrastructure has a fleet of around 35 aerials, including 20 recently ordered machines from Haulotte – 12 scissors and eight booms. Mr Modi told AI that he hoped to add a additional 50 machines to his fleet this year and is investigating a joint venture with a Singapore–based rental company to bring more lifts into India.

He says southern India is a fast–growing market, with a lot of inward investment in factories by companies like BMW and Hyundai. His main rental customers are in aviation and factory maintenance, and the Indian railways. Mtandt also manufactures access towers, selling as many as 4000 in India every year.
