20 March 2008

Around 500000 people visited the Bauma exhibition in Munich at the end of April, making it the biggest Bauma show ever and the best attended construction exhibition of all time.

One of the startling statistics about the show was the number of visitors from outside Germany – a remarkable 160000, 35% up on the previous event in 2004.

Exhibitors almost universally hailed the show as fantastic. Israel Celli, JLG Industries' senior vice president, international market development and sales, told Access International that it has been “the best JLG show ever, better even than Conexpo two years ago.”

There were reports that some major suppliers had told their sales teams to stop taking orders. Crane deliveries for some manufacturers are now extended until 2009.
