Thai facade contractor KAMA Joint Venture Co is using 13 singlemast Hek MSHF mast climbing work platforms to install 6000 facade glazing elements on the terminal building at the new Suvarnabhumi Airport near Bangkok in Thailand. The glazing panels are held by a cable suspended system, which meant that the Hek units could only be anchored once at the roof level of the 37.5 m high building. The 2.25 m by 2.45 m elements have been installed over 9 m wide sections, with as many as 12 panels placed each day by each of the 12 work teams on site. At that rate the entire 34000 m2 glazing will be completed in less than four months. The 2300 kg capacity mast climbers were supplied by Tristar Equipment Co, Alimak Hek's exclusive dealer in Thailand. The airport is scheduled to open during 2006.
