Aldercote custom crawler

Aldercote has mounted a 17m working height articulated boom onto a Marooka MST 600 crawler carrier.

The UK-based van-mounted and specialist truck-mounted platform manufacturer took the order from a major utility company working in the north e of England, which will use the machine to install power lines.

"The customer required a unit capable of travelling over long distances and causing minimal damage to sensitive environments. As there are no products in the market to meet the customer’s needs Aldercote were approached to build the unit at an acceptable cost," said Richard Breeden, Aldercote sales.

The Marooka was sourced through UK distributor Cautrac, while the boom was taken from a used Custers trailer-mounted platform. "

"For transportation purposes and operational purposes the requirement was for straight down stabilisers that had to be within the width of the crawler chassis," explained Breeden, "The subframe was then purpose built to complement the Marooka chassis with room for toolboxes and lockers to be added later and painted in the customers colour scheme."
