Alex Schuessler appointed president at SmartEquip

Alex Schuessler has been appointed president of SmartEquip, the business he founded in 2000. He will take up the new role on 1 January.

Schuessler has worked for the company continuously since its creation, serving initially as CEO then leading its push into international markets including Europe, Japan and wider Asia. Most recently he led SmartEquip’s International Group.

SmartEquip said the appointment marked a “strategic step to accelerate the company’s next phase of expansion...[and] a sharpened focus on scaling the SmartEquip Network”. It added that under Schuessler it will prioritise “deeper systems integration and expanded use of AI”.

The company helps major fleet owners, including rental companies, to manage their fleets by providing a single procurement platform to source parts from hundreds of manufacturers. It supports US$2 billion worth of parts transactions every year.

SmartEquip’s current network includes hundreds of fleet owners and suppliers, covering more than 800 OEM brands and reaching over 100,000 users across 75,000 locations worldwide.
