Taylors Hoists have been contracted by Mace Group to provide lift solutions for the construction of 3 Merchant Square in London.

Working with Alimak Hek, Taylors Hoists have provided a solution that combines a Hek TPM Material Hoist with an Alimak Scando 450 Construction Hoist sharing the same masts.

The modular Alimak Scando 450 construction hoist range combines all the elements of the established Scando 650 at a reduced cost. Partnering the Scando 450, the Hek TPM3000T2 model used can be re-configured to create a number of twin and single mast machines. Both ranges run on the same 450 mast reducing space and installation times.

The hoists are being used to deliver tall bathroom pods into 3 Merchant Square. The TPM machines’ VFC drives allow accurate floor levelling and have been set up so that the platform flap opens out onto a steel support angle below the floor slab creating a flat and smooth transfer of the pods into the building within the height of the floors.

Taylors Hoists operations manager Gordon Craig said: “It was the first time that this progressive equipment had been implemented in London with interest received from other contractors and is an example of how a continued and close relationship with the hoist manufacturer helps Elliott Thomas provide the most innovative and effective solutions to these types of logistical challenges.”

Once complete, 3 Merchant Square will consist of 159 private premium apartments and 42 affordable apartments across two buildings of 21 and 19 storeys each with a three-storey basement.
