APEX Asia overcomes challenges
28 October 2021
The third APEX Asia show was successfully held last week in Shanghai, despite the challenges presented by the Covid pandemic.
There was uncertainty over whether APEX Asia and the co-located CeMAT Asia show would be held because of Shanghai health regulations, but just weeks before the scheduled dates of 26 to 29 October the organisers and exhibitors were given the go-ahead.
Cathy Yao, KHL’s Managing Director in China, speaking to Access International after the first two days of the show, said that despite the challenges, the event was going well; “We have been delighted with the show so far. Access buyers are here and they are placing orders.
“China’s access market bucked the trend last year, with rental companies continuing to invest heavily. This year sales remain at a healthy level, and that is evident from the optimistic mood of the exhibitors.”
Alessandro Mastrogiacomo, CMC’s Foreign Sales Director, said; “At CMC, we see Asia as a huge blue ocean full of possibilities, where there is room to offer our platforms to the market and at the same time educate a rapidly growing audience on lifting issues to work in a better and safer way.
“Ethical issues around work safety have always guided us in finding new markets to enter and Asia is a particularly friendly market for CMC. APEX is a trade fair we are particularly fond of...so we have successfully taken part in each of the first three editions of the show in the East, confident that it will become a fixed point for the whole market.”
Multiple manufacturers of access equipment as well as battery and other comonent suppliers are exhibiting at the show, which is taking place in Hall N2 of the SNIEC exhibition ground in Pudong, Shanghai.
APEX Asia, which is the Asian sister show to APEX, was first held in 2017 and then again in 2019. It is co-located with CeMAT Asia, which is the largest factory automation and material handling exhibition in China.
The show is organised by IPI and KHL in association with Access International.
