Pennsylvania-based Ballymore has big plans to expand its presence in the North American aerial work platform market, the company told ALH at The Rental Show. The rolling-ladder specialist has been appointed a distributor of Chinese-made Zhejiang Dingli Machinery Co. (Dingli) lifts, and showed a scissor lift and vertical mast lift at the event.

Over the course of five years, the company has grown from one facility to three, all located in Pennsylvania, and plans to start importing Dingli booms, rough terrain scissor lifts and articulated booms in the future, said Philip Damm, vice president of sales for Ballymore.

Ballymore began manufacturing rolling safety ladders in 1945. For the coming year, the company will grow its lift operations with the establishment of a dedicated lift division to support its expansion in the aerial market.

Currently, Ballymore offers DC slab scissors ranging from 10 feet to 45 feet of platform height. All scissors meet ANSI standards. The distributor also offers push-around scissor lifts with 16 or 19 feet of working height, and a drivable, vertical mast lift with 24 feet of working height.

It was the company’s first time exhibiting at The Rental Show.

Dingli is one of the largest AWP manufacturers in China. The company recently spent €14.4 million to purchase a 20 percent share in Italian telehandler manufacturer Magni. Dingli has also been appointed as Magni's exclusive importer and distributor for all Magni products throughout China.
