Cherrypicker Shop takes over Simon Access specialist

UK-based Cherrypicker Shop has acquired the assets and all historical records of parts specialist Miles Robinson, after its owner announced his retirement.

Established in the 1990s in Cheltenham, Miles Robinson provides a “unique” parts service that helps maintain self-propelled, van, towable and truck mount platforms produced by global manufacturer Simon Access Group.

The Miles Robinson company was founded by Roger Miles after the collapse of the Simon Access Group and, according to Cherrypicker Shop, had since built strong reputation as the place to go when “all else failed trying to obtain parts”.

Richard Tindale, co-founder of Cherrypicker Shop, said, “I worked with Roger at Simon Access in Gloucester back in the early 90s and since then have often relied on him to help out me and my contacts with parts nobody else can offer.

“When I heard he was finally going to hang up his parts books, I was concerned that all of his invaluable knowledge would be lost to the industry forever.”

The deal will see Cherrypicker shop, which was founded by Richard Tindale and Tom Cribb and provides technical support to MEWP owners nationwide, take ownership of all the company’s remaining stock and its archive material.

The Miles Robinson company will cease trading on 1 June of this year. Cherrypicker Shop has already begun working with the specialist’s existing customers and will continue to provide support to former customers during the transition period.

Tindale said, “We promised we would take care of Roger’s legacy and with Tom’s youthful enthusiasm, parts expertise and customer-focused attitude I am confident we can look after all of his customers as well as new ones around the world who still own these venerable machines”.
