A Palazzani XTJ 42 tracked platform is being used in a mosque expansion project in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The 42 m working height machine was sold to the Saudi Bin Ladin group, which supplied the machine to the Haram Expansion Project of the Two Holy Mosques. The XTJ 42 is helping to carry out maintenance to plaster and marble on the ceiling of the Grand Mosque.

It has a horizontal outreach of up to 18.5 m and weighs about 10 tonnes, in the crawler version. Palazzani said the machine was chosen for its ability to drive through the doorway of the mosque in closed configuration, and for its enlarged 1.37 to 1.8 m chassis, offering increased stability, said the company.
