Franch contractor Boulet Bâtiment has added a Genie Z-62/40 Trax articulating platform to its operations.

Based in Azincourt in the Pas-ne-Calais region in the north of the country, Boulet is best known for providing site preprataion and structural services such as metal framework installation, excavation , foundations and roofing.

The company acquired the articulating platform from local Genie dealer, EMM, for use in the construction of a logistics warehouse for a freight transports at the port of Calais.

Featuring a 227kg (500lb) capacity basket, the platform has a max working height of 20.8m (68ft 5in), a horizontal outreach of 12.42m (40ft 7in), and an articulating height of 7.8m (25ft 5in).

The Genie Z-62/40 model incorporates the manufacturer’s TraX system design. Comprising four independent triangular tracks, one at each corner, this enables the machine to “go virtually anywhere” and that it benefits from 45% gradeability.

An oscillating axle ensures all the units tracks remain on the ground when working in rougher terrain, and offers 45% gradability.

The Z-62.40 also incorporates Genie’s Dual Parallelogram design. The company said this “allows operators to work parallel to walls and facades while the boom is elevated, reducing the need to reposition the machine”.

While Boulet Bâtiment chose the Genie Z-62/40 TraX for its productivity and versatility, as well as its excellent rough terrain capabilities and manoeuvrability, it first became aware of the model after its manager, Aoife Desgrousilliers, read about it in an article.

“When it came to learning more, Boulet Bâtiment was immediately reassured by the quality of the relationship between Genie and its distributor EMM, who explained in detail the relevance of a track-mounted boom lift, a productive and valuable solution for its customer’s various projects,” said Genie.
