Geda bridges Norwegian fjord

German hoist manufacturer Geda was recently brought in to provide access equipment for the construction of the 523 m Dalsfjordbrua, a bridge that spans the Dalsfjord on Norway’s west cost.

Up until now a ferry operated between Dale and Eikeneset on either side of the fjord, but increasing traffic volumes called for a more permanent crossing. The construction of the suspension bridge, which features two 100 m high pylons, is part of an ongoing infrastructure expansion for the Sunnfjord region of Norway.

German contractor Bilfinger Berger erected the two 100 m pylons for the Dalsfjord Bridge. Utleiecompagniet AS (Uco) was contracted to supply the access equipment, and chose its partner Geda to equip the site with two Geda PH 2032 650 Single devices.

The two hoists had to be installed taking into consideration the incline of the pylons. Specially designed anchorages were fitted to ensure the necessary distance to the pylons.

The maximum lifting height of the PH 2032 650 Single is 400 m with a lifting speed of up to 90 m/min. The 1.55 x 3.20 m platform can lift up to 2000 kg in materials, or 25 people.
