Top Lift (HTL) telehandlers from Haulotte have lifting capacities of up to 4 tonnes and a 17 m maximum lifting height.

Haulotte has recently agreed to fit its telehandlers with a load management system manufactured by Australian company, EQSS (Equipment Safety Systems).

The system was designed about two years ago by Ted Parrott: he and his team identified that a telehandler changed from boom, to crane, to loader and needed a safety system to suit all modes. By combining the EQSS load management system with automatic tool selection the EQSS TSS 6245 protects the operator against selecting the wrong tool.

The automatic tool recognition means that the operator does not need to manually reset the telehandler's load management system as it changes on-site application.

Annie O'Shea, CEO of EQSS said, "The Automatic Tool Selection option means the machines are much safer as operators are now free to fully concentrate on the job rather than worrying about whether they are compliant or not.

"For the Hire & Rental industry it minimises any telehandler operator training or instructions. It effectively makes operating the telehandler as foolproof as humanly possible given that these machines are used for a multitude of purposes.

"We are currently in discussions with the hire and rental industry to project manage the retrofitting of safety systems to all their machines - both young and old - to ensure they are all compliant.

"We are also able to upgrade machines from manual to fully automatic systems simply and cost effectively as situations change we can plan this from day one."

Other telehandler manufacturers who use the EQSS load management system include Merlo, Manitou and JCB.
