Italy’s Midolini acquires Scaligera Service
04 July 2026
Midolini Group has acquired a majority stake in Verona, Italy-based mobile crane, aerial platform and industrial equipment rental company Scaligera Service from its owner the Brunelli family. The acquisition was made through Midolini’s subsidiary Midlift.
Founded in 1978 and headquartered in Udine, Scaligera Service has focused over the years on industrial assembly and specialised machinery and equipment rental.
The deal relates exclusively to the wet rental (rental with an operator) segment of the company, with dry rental activities excluded from the agreement and continuing to operate independently under the existing UpRent brand.
The transaction will enable the Midolini Group to consolidate its position in Northern Italy—specifically strengthening its presence in the Verona area and extending its operational coverage along the Brenner corridor up to Trentino-Alto Adige.
Following the acquisition, a new company Scaligera Autogrù will be established to focus on the rental of mobile cranes and aerial platforms. Midlift will control the new company, holding an 80% stake, while the Brunelli family will retain the remaining 20%.
Expanding network
The deal brings onboard a fleet of mobile cranes with up to 220 tonnes capacities and aerial platforms up to 48m working height, and with the know-how of Scaligera Service will allow Midolini Group to strengthen its position in the domestic market. It will also bring the group’s number of branches to seven.
Giacomo Pittini, CEO of Midolini Group, commented, “The agreement with Scaligera Service marks another step in our group’s consolidation and growth journey. This transaction allows us not only to strengthen our presence in a strategic area—Northern Italy and along the Brenner corridor—but also to integrate specialised expertise.”
Pittini added, “We identified Scaligera Service as a partner with whom we share values, a market approach, and an industrial vision. The integration will enable the development of significant operational and commercial synergies, leveraging the distinctive strengths of both companies and further reinforcing the group’s competitive positioning.”
Mauro Brunelli, CEO of Scaligera Service, said, “Joining forces with Midolini Group is a natural strategic move to ensure growth and competitiveness on a national scale for our wet rental division, backed by the strength of a major industrial partner with a robust logistics network.
“At the same time, this agreement stems from a clear desire to build upon what we have achieved over nearly fifty years: operational continuity and, above all, the expertise of our team remain the beating heart of our operations in the Verona, Trento, and Mantua areas.”
