Beijing JingCheng Boom

China’s Beijing JingCheng Heavy Industries said it was at APEX to better learn the European market but it does not yet have a final timetable for bringing in machines. It is the first Chinese access manufacturer to show aerial platforms in Europe.

Mr Su Jie, chairman and chief executive officer, told Access International, “As a responsible company, we must know conditions of the market, we must understand how to enter it effectively. We must know our customers’ needs.”

Mr Su said the company recognises that after-sales service is an essential element of entering the market. “We are conscious of the need to find distributors. At this beginning [of our efforts] we want more contact with many companies, not just a few. In the future, we could focus on one distributor for all of Europe.”

The company sold the four machines -- a 32 m working height self-propelled boom (pictured), a 10 m and 12 m scissor, and a 14 m vertical mast -- on its stand to Polish dealer Mega in Warsaw. Although Mr Su was pleased to have sold the machines, he told AI, “We do not want to move too hastily.”

Mr Su said he is eager for the machines to go into use so that Beijing JingCheng learns more about service needs in the European market. He said the company, which has been making access equipment for decades, “…needs to have a solid base for technical support.”

The company’s stand was attracting a lot of attention from European buyers at APEX. Some rental companies told Access International that, based on an initial assessment of the machines, the Chinese manufacturer should be taken seriously.
