Kennards Hire and Hilti Australia form sustainability partnership

Australian rental company Kennards Hire and Hilti Australia, a branch of the Liechtenstein-based equipment maker Hilti Group, have reached a fleet partner agreement to drive sustainability and innovation in the construction and hire sectors.

Under the new collaboration, end-of-hire lifecycle Hilti equipment will undergo a thorough assessment based on its conditions for parts reuse, tool repurposing, or recycling.

Hilti will refurbish still serviceable tools, saving parts for reuse and reducing waste. It will also refurbish tools that are no longer fit for commercial use and donate them to community organisations like Habitat for Humanity Australia and educational institutions, promoting further value beyond the construction site.

“Our customers are looking for top-quality and reliable hire equipment, which also helps to address their environmental and sustainability concerns,” said Kennards Hire general manager, Fleet & Procurement, Nathan Venables.

“Our partnership with Hilti is more than just about expanding our fleet; it’s about leading the charge in sustainable practices within the hire industry.”

Jeremy Campbell, head of marketing, Hilti Australia, added, “Hilti’s fleet partnership with Kennards Hire optimally rotates tools out of service at the right time, improving safety and productivity, whilst taking care to recycle, repurpose or reuse tools from fleet circulation sustainably.”

Over the next five years, the recycling potential for Hilti tools hired out through Kennards Hire is estimated to result in the recycling of almost 17,500 kg of steel, aluminium, and copper. Additionally, over 2,500 spare parts will be extracted and refurbished, further reducing the environmental footprint of the construction and hire sectors.

Since 2004, Hilti and Kennards Hire have worked to offer more than 3,500 Hilti products across 22 product lines.
