Krank adds AI assistant to speed up equipment inspections

Krank has added an AI assistant to its Inspeq equipment inspection platform.

AI-Assisted Inspections allows inspectors to dictate observations as they work, with AI completing report fields, organising supporting evidence and generating a structured inspection report in real time.   

Krank said the new approach replaces the traditional practice of recording inspections in the field before completing reports afterwards. It will make inspection data available as soon as work is finished.

The tech firm said internal studies found that the new feature reduces inspection completion time by up to 45%, improves field-level accuracy by 32% and eliminates at least 40% of manual data entry through AI-assisted field completion and automation.  

Using voice commands, inspectors can describe what they see as they inspect equipment, capture photographs and video, and complete inspection reports in a continuous process.  

Real-time prompts

The AI assistant gives inspectors real-time prompts throughout the inspection, confirming which fields have been completed, recording actions as they take place and highlighting any information still required.

It also uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to extract details such as serial numbers, engine numbers, makes and models directly from equipment identification plates.

“AI-Assisted Inspections change the role of AI from processing information after the event to supporting inspectors while they’re on site, making reporting faster, more consistent and easier to complete.”
