Digital tool cuts equipment inspection time ‘by 50%’

Technology firm Krank, which provides online auction tools for OEMs and other fleet owners, said its equipment inspection tool Inspeq can reduce by 50% the time taken by rental companies to inspect their machines.

The Inspeq app allows staff carry out check-in and check-out inspections using a smartphone or tablet, capturing video, photos, voice notes and time-stamped condition reports. Data can be stored and shared with workshop colleagues.

Central to the app is AI-powered technology to transcribe voice input into condition reports, in real time. The app replaces hand-written notes, with inspectors speaking observations while recording video, guided by on-screen prompts.

The platform “listens, interprets, and logs everything into a clean, shareable report”, said UK-based Krank.

Mark Turner, CEO at Krank, said; “Equipment rental businesses are under constant pressure to deliver equipment quickly. That means minimising downtime and protecting high-value assets, often while dealing with unreliable inspections and frustrating ambiguity around damage.

“We have developed Inspeq to bring total clarity to a process that can be messy and inconsistent and support rental fleet management.”

He added; “We’re still early in the rollout, but we’re already seeing inspection times cut by up to 50%, and the time savings after inspections are even more dramatic.

“Compiling detailed reports can take businesses hours but can now be completed instantly, directly through Inspeq. That means faster turnaround, quicker servicing, and fewer idle machines.”

According to Khurram Mumtaz, CTO at Krank; “As soon as the inspector completes their check, a fully formatted, shareable report is ready instantly, speeding up maintenance, reducing downtime, and keeping high-value equipment in action.

“Equipment rental is evolving, and the businesses that succeed will be the ones who adopt smarter tools. Inspeq provides users with a streamlined way of completing inspections, one that allows everyone to stay aligned even when teams are spread across multiple sites.

“By using AI to automate routine admin, we’re giving teams back valuable time and helping them to build more resilient, future ready operations.”
