Manitou has hit the 30 m mark in its MRT rotating telehandler range with the launch of the MRT 3050 model.

The new handler - seen first at the Intermat show in April - will have lift heights of between 14 m and 30 m and a maximum lifting capacity of 5 t. Maximum horizontal reach is 25.5 m. The handler can be used with forks for handling, with a jib as a crane, and fitted with a personnel lift.

Other features of the machine include the use of a pentagonal shaped profile on the five-section boom that, says Manitou, “increases the rigidity...[and] results in a high level of precision for the user and complete control of movement during operation.”

Meanwhile, Manitou's managing director, Marcel Claude Braud, said at Intermat that demand for its telehandlers continued to grow, with sales up 22% in 2005 - representing 68% of its €985 million turnover - and rising a further 14-15% in the first quarter of 2006. He said growth in Europe was dynamic, and moderate in North America.
