21 July 2025
Mateco, has acquired Spanish crane, MEWP and construction equipment rental company Sergruco as part of the rollout of its General Equipment Rental Division in Alicante, Alcoy and Valencia.
Serving the province of Teruel, with an additional presence in the northern area of Valencia and Castellón, Sergruco was founded in the mid-1990s with the main goal of meeting the demand in the crane and transport business.

Over the years the company has expanded to offer aerial platforms and construction equipment, hand tools and modular spaces.
With an annual turnover of around €7.5 million, Sergruco operates a fleet of 750 machines and employs 30 people across two locations in the provinces of Teruel and Castellón.
Carlos Jordà, CEO of Mateco Spain commented, “The acquisition of Sergruco, following several years of good relations between our companies, was driven, despite clear differences in business lines, by our cultural compatibility and shared commitment to service.
“It will allow us to expand our geographic coverage to include the province of Teruel and continue the rollout of our General Equipment Rental Division. I am proud of the trust Miguel has placed in us to carry on the outstanding work he has done”
Regional expansion plan
Apart from the General Equipment Rental Division, this latest acquisition is also part of mateco’s strategic growth plan for the Iberian Peninsula, which also includes the opening of four new branches in 2025 in Huelva, Burgos, Ourense and Cantabria.

Miguel Perez, Sergruco’s owner, said, “These have been many years of hard work, growing the company while strengthening the industrial and economic development of Teruel.”
The talent and commitment of the team, especially Cristóbal Escriche, makes me incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved. Now it’s time to focus on my family and friends, and that’s why I’ve decided to pass the baton to mateco. I am completely confident that this is the best possible choice to continue this project and support my team moving forward”.
Cristóbal Escriche. a partner and director of Sergruco, added, “This marks the end of a chapter in the company where I’ve worked side by side with Miguel Pérez, sharing and learning how the business runs. A new chapter begins for me, now as Branch Manager for mateco in Teruel, where I’ll have the opportunity to join a major international company and learn a new way of doing business. I’m deeply excited and motivated to take on this new challenge”.
