The top buying countries by hammer total were the UK (£18.3 million), Republic of Ireland (£6.5 million), Spain (£2.1 million), Poland (£1.9 million), and Belgium (£1.9 million).

Online bidding accounted for 72% of the overall sale activity, and of the 1,500 buyers, 83% placed their bids online.

Scott McCall, Lifting and Access Manager at Euro Auctions said the MEWP prices attained at the auction were good. “There was a nice balance on 16-metre boom lifts in what was generally a strong market, with prices coming back 8% to 10% over the previous sale.”

UK rental company APL consigned an exceptional catalogue of machines to the sale, said McCall. “While most brands sold well, some specialist machines attracted significant international interest, with many brands in high demand. The sale included substantial consignments of Skyjack machines, where bidding was exceptional, reflecting renewed interest in this brand.”

McCall added that the volume did not translate to low prices, which one might expect, proving that the buyer base was intent on finding good, rent-ready machines. “Access machines sold on Friday were leaving the yard the same day, ready for work, demonstrating that there is clearly an urgency in the UK market to get machines operational.”

Some 30% of the machines sold stayed in the UK, with the remainder going to Eastern Europe, Spain, the USA, India, and Scandinavia.

“Feedback from buyers was straightforward and positive, with many stating that this was the best selection of lifting and access equipment ever seen for sale in one place. Agri-spec telehandlers were particularly in high demand.”
