Multitel supports Zaragoza’s historic Fiestas Del Pilar

A Multitel 160 ALU has aided preperation for Zaragoza’s historic Fiestas Del Pilar

The telescopic truck mounted platform, used by Kiloutou España, supported preparations for the traditional Ofrenda de Flores and technical work for RTVE’s television coverage, at the heart of one of Spain’s most important popular celebrations.

The Fiestas del Pilar, which brought Zaragoza to life from 9 -18 October with a packed programme of religious, cultural and community events, are among the most important celebrations in the Aragonese calendar. One of the most eagerly anticipated highlights is the traditional Ofrenda de Flores to the Virgen del Pilar, held on 12 October. Thousands of people, many wearing traditional dress, make their way through the city’s streets to lay floral tributes at the feet of the Virgin in the square bearing her name.

Around 134,000 people took part in the 2026 floral offering, requiring extensive organisation and preparation. Kiloutou España, a company specialising in professional machinery and equipment rental, also contributed to the preparations by supplying a Multitel 160 ALU telescopic truck-mounted platform. The machine supported work at height for the installation of the Ofrenda de Flores display, as well as technical preparations for television coverage by RTVE, Spain’s public broadcaster.

Setting up the Ofrenda de Flores display is a particularly demanding undertaking. The large structure erected in Plaza del Pilar to hold the floral arrangements reaches an overall height of approximately 15 metres and a width of 16 metres. Designed to support the flowers as they are gradually added by participants, it requires careful coordination between the teams involved in the preparations. In this setting, the Multitel 160 ALU provided the access needed for work at height, helping to prepare one of the festival’s most iconic highlights.

Television coverage

The platform was also made available to the technical crews preparing RTVE’s television coverage, facilitating the work at height required to broadcast the event. These two different applications shared the challenges of working in an urban setting of outstanding historical and architectural significance, with limited preparation time and several teams working simultaneously.

The Multitel 160 ALU, a telescopic truck-mounted platform fitted to a 3.5-tonne truck, offers a working height of approximately 16 metres. Its aluminium telescopic boom, a hallmark of Multitel’s engineering, combines low structural weight with precise movements, qualities particularly valuable for tasks requiring accurate positioning at height.

The truck-mounted configuration allows operators to move quickly between work areas without additional transport, while its compact dimensions and ease of positioning make it well suited to challenging urban environments. These advantages are particularly important when organising events of this scale, where efficient execution, operational flexibility and coordination between teams are essential.

The preparations for the Fiestas del Pilar also illustrate the collaboration between Multitel and Kiloutou España. The Spanish rental company sees the Italian manufacturer’s truck-mounted platforms as solutions that complement its fleet and meet the needs of a wide range of applications, from construction and maintenance to event setup.

“At Kiloutou España, we are proud to contribute to the preparations for the Fiestas del Pilar, one of Zaragoza’s most iconic celebrations. Our involvement in setting up the Ofrenda de Flores display and supporting RTVE’s broadcasting activities demonstrates the importance of having versatile, reliable access solutions. Equipment such as Multitel platforms allows us to meet the demands of projects where mobility, efficiency and safety are essential,” says Iñigo Mendoza, Operations Director at Kiloutou España.

The work in Zaragoza confirms the versatility of Multitel’s truck-mounted platforms in the events sector, where the ability to reach different working positions quickly and operate efficiently in urban spaces provides a practical advantage for operators.
