Cameron Clow, is the new chairman of the Ladder Association, the UK trade body responsible for advancing safety and best practice in the ladder industry and for overseeing the delivery of the national training scheme. He takes over from Chris Ball and will serve for a period of three years.

Mr Clow has been a member of Council since 1996 and the Executive Committee since 2007. He currently sits on the B512 Ladder Committee for the British Standards Institution (BSI).

At the Association's Annual Members' Meeting in Cardiff Mr Clow accepted the nomination to become secretary of the newly formed European Ladder Federation (ELF). He also said that he had two principal objectives upon taking office. First, was to raise awareness and understanding of the need for professional ladder training in the workplace. Second, was to expand the Ladder Exchange campaign which changed ownership from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to the Ladder Association this year.

"I am delighted to be taking up this challenging role at such an important time in the Association's history," said Mr Clow. "The Ladder Association is increasingly recognised and respected as a major influence in the work at height sector and I look forward to contributing to its future growth and ongoing success."

Mr Clow is group managing director of W J Clow & Co Ltd, a large privately owned manufacturer of ladders and access equipment in the UK, with premises in London, Birmingham, Belfast and Glasgow.
