New MD for HKL in Austria

German rental company HKL has appointed former Cramo Austria executive Christian Heigl as its new Managing Director in Austria. 

A mechanical engineer and lawyer by training, Heigl will manage the further expansion of HKL’s business in the country. He worked for Cramo Austria for more than seven years.

He said his ambition was grow the company’s reputation as “a reliable and professional partner to the construction industry.”

“Together with our strong and effective team, we want to establish ourselves as the ‘best provider’ in rental and sales in our area,” Heigl said.

He takes up his new role as HKL continues its ongoing investment in new machines, with a focus on efficiency and environmental benefits.

The company also recently invested in excavators in the 3.5 tonne class. Other new additions such as truck mounted platforms from Pagliero Multitel will be available for rent in HKL centres from this summer.

Meanwhile the construction site equipment offer is also growing, with portable toilets, construction fences and barriers now available for rent. There are also plans to expand the access equipment offering. 

HKL carries over 80,000 construction machines, work platforms, construction equipment, tools, portable accommodation units and vehicles.

In Austria it has branches in Vienna, Wiener Neudorf, Wolkersdorf, Salzburg, Linz and Graz.

In total, HKL operates more than 170 branches, including special outlets for accommodation, work platforms and telehandlers, as well as for power.

The private company had a turnover of more than €400 million in 2020, across its rental, sales and service divisions.
