Oshkosh lays out emission targets

Premium Content

Oshkosh, parent company of JLG, is setting targets to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.

The new groupwide programme falls in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi); a global body enabling business to define and promote best practices. It also offers resources and guidance to help adoption, as well as independently assesses and approving companies’ plans in line with the latest climate science.

SBTi is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and is one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments.

Oshkosh will now develop, validate and publish its targets within the next 24 months. “We are reducing carbon emissions, protecting the planet and doing our part to build a more sustainable world,” said John C Pfeifer, Oshkosh Corporation president and chief executive officer. “We are excited to join a growing group of leading companies setting emissions reduction targets according to climate science.”

Oshkosh has been a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for the past three years, a member of Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable Companies for the past four years and has been named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere Institute for seven consecutive years.
