Safi in the spotlight

One access manufacturer that is going to get a lot of public exposure over the summer holiday season is Italy's Safi, which has the privilege of seeing one of its mast climbers on the façade of the Parthenon at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece.

The 30 m long SCAF 2000 S was installed at the historic site in the middle of May and will be used by the Acropolis Restoration Service (ARS) for four or five months to carry out tests on past restoration efforts. The climber was supplied by Safi's Greek distributor Adamakos Equiment Ltd.

It almost goes without saying that the climber is not being anchored into the structure, with a special anchored base used to ensure the free–standing stability of the platform. Safi said it won the contract after a “lively” tendering process involving some well–known competitors.
