System Lift sees rental and investment surge

Germany-based rental company cooperative System Lift recorded an increase in rental sales of 9% in the 2023 financial year, compared to the previous year. There was also an uptick in training.

System Lift, which represents a large number of companies under a partnership arrangement, closed the 2023 financial year with a new record rental turnover of €300.7 million. It meant, every fifth order from its partners was processed within the System Lift community.

Malte Bilau, CEO of System Lift, said the achievement of 20% of sales coming within the partnership was something that all involved could be proud of.

Christopher Friedrich, System Lift board member, added, “The fact that one in five orders was implemented within the  association shows that our processes in our community function smoothly and that this national network of landlords [companies] is also valued by our customers.”

According to Friedrich, the growth is underlined by the expanding rental fleet, which stands at more than 20,700 units. There was also record investment in equipment purchasing. In 2023, System Lift partners invested around €101 million in new machines.

“This is the highest total as well as the highest number of units in the history of our joint purchasing,” said Friedrich.

A significant proportion of these investments occurred during September in a single bundle purchase of €53 million. “System Lift is thus continuing the successful purchasing record of recent years.”

Training card adoption

System Lift closed the 2023 training year with an increase in 13% of its System Training certificate cards issued - amounting to a new record.

As a training provider System Lift has more than 35,000 trainees participants. “This development naturally makes us proud and motivates us to consistently continue on this path,” said Bilau.

“In recent years, we have expanded the portfolio of face-to-face training and additionally developed high-quality, flexible e-learning that has been very well received.

“Our virtual reality offerings within the training courses have also proven to be groundbreaking, and proven. In the first year, we were able to carry out over 180 aerial work platform training courses using virtual reality applications, thereby conveying practical content that could normally only be trained in theory for safety reasons.”

The System Card training program covers all types of aerial platforms, industrial trucks and telehandlers, cranes, earth-moving equipment, slingers and PPE users.
