GEDA has contributed to rack and pinion hoists, a GEDA 500 Z/ZP transport platform and GEDA 300 Z material hoist, to the extensive restoration of Frederiksborg Castle in Hillerød, Denmark.

First, crews are using the 300 Z material hoist to erect scaffolding safely and efficiently; then, for the actual renovation work, the 500 Z/ZP transport platform will move workers and materials to the project’s required transport height of 30 meters (both GEDA products can reach a maximum of 100 meters).

The German OEM has partnered with Hejs.dk A/S, a sales and service company in Denmark, to install the equipment on the jobsite.

A feature of this project is the installation of the GEDA 500 Z/ZP on a prefabricated platform in the water, and due to the force distribution and low anchoring forces, the transport platform can be anchored directly over the scaffolding.

GEDA said this is an enormous advantage for meeting the challenge of renovating the castle’s windward side.

Crews use the GEDA 500 Z/ZP transport platform to renovate the Frederiksborg Castle.

Expected to take three or four years, the construction project on the 17th century castle’s windward side will renovate the structure’s façade, replace the roof and conserve the monument and its attached Danish heritage.

Built by King Christian IV, the Frederiksborg Castle is considered the largest Renaissance castle in Scandinavia, and it has housed the Museum of Natural History since 1878.

The castle features opulent architecture and an impressive collection of portraits, historical paintings, furniture and handicrafts that represent 500 years of Danish history.
