Böcker capacity innovation leads to larger Super-Lifts

Böcker is presenting a capacity upgrade to its Super-Lift MX and LX transport platforms, thanks to major safety innovations that will allow products to become bigger and faster, says the company.

The Super-Lift MX and LX platforms now offer an extended transport volume of up to 12 persons and a higher transport speed of up to 24 m/min or 40 m/min for passenger transport, and have met corresponding EC type approval.

The new approval marks a significant step for the entire industry, said Germany-based Böcker. “In future, it will not only allow faster and more efficient passenger transport, but will also enable a noticeable increase in transport capacities for materials - a clear competitive advantage for construction companies and operators.”

Transportation savings

According to Böcker, eith over 1,000 units across Germany, transport platforms are one of the most frequently used means of transport at height on construction sites for people and materials, particularly in buildings of medium height between 20m and 50m, yet here is considerable potential for savings here.

“The widely used standard transport platforms reach speeds of up to 12 m/min in passenger transport mode and transport a maximum of seven people. However, the focus is clearly on transporting materials, especially in medium-height buildings, so the time required to transport people should be minimised wherever possible,” Böcker explains.

A practical calculation illustrates the potential: on a construction site with 40 employees, who are transported to and from a working height of 24m six times a day (including intermediate stops and loading/unloading), a standard platform is used around 3.6 hours a day purely for transporting people. This leaves only 8.4 hours for material transport, during which an average of 58 material journeys per day are possible.

Advantage of higher capacity

According to Böcker, the Super-Lift MX and LX transport platforms create additional capacity for material transport. At up to 24 m/min, they double the speed for up to 12 people in the cabin. In the same scenario, the time required to transport people is thereby reduced to just 1.2 hours per day. This means that 10.8 hours are available for material transport. Thanks to the constantly high hoisting speed, whether with or without people, up to 81 material journeys per day can be realised.

In total, this means 29% more transport capacity for materials, even with this conservatively calculated example. Böcker adds, “This results in a direct advantage for builders: higher transport capacities create reserves, not only in terms of construction progress, but also for scheduling. The increased buffer capacity reduces the risk of unexpected delays leading to a domino effect on the entire construction site. The result is more security, greater predictability and ultimately a clear contribution to meeting deadlines.”

Patrick Zengerling, Head of Rack & Pinion Technology at Böcker, said, “The successful type approval in accordance with the EC directive not only allows an increased number of people to be transported, but also enables a faster transport speed and therefore a greater overall material capacity. The new approvals for the Super-Lift MX and LX platforms therefore give construction companies and project developers a real efficiency advantage.”
