Paul Burger, general manager of international sales at Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) – and since 1 April a member of the company's board – tells Access International that meeting the booming European demand for earthmoving products, which are Hitachi's core business, has been the priority for the company. It is still selling its crawler mounted aerial platforms, and showed one telescopic unit on its Bauma stand, but sales volumes are very low. Mr Burger says the arrangement in Benelux, where its platforms are sold by access specialist Eurosupply, “has been very effective. Maybe we will pursue the same strategy in other markets [in Europe].”
