Alayan completes Spanish acquisition

Alayan Rentals has continued its expansion in Southern Europe with the acquisition of Valquisa, the Zaragoza-based rental company that has been operating for more than 35 years.

Valquisa has depots in Zaragoza and La Almunia in North Eastern Spain and a fleet of more than 800 units. It equipment includes earthmoving machines, aerial platforms, power generation and telehandlers.

“The acquisition of Valquisa allows us to further strengthen our offering and consolidate our role as a benchmark in professional rental,” said Pedro Torres, director of Alayan Rentals Spain.

“It also enables us to improve our presence in Zaragoza, a strategic area both geographically and commercially, by leveraging the opportunities offered by our sector. We will work to ensure a smooth integration, maintaining service continuity and valuing our people.”

Francisco Poves Royo, the managing director of Valquisa, said; “The integration into Alayan and the TESYA Group follows a strategic rationale and strengthens the company’s positioning in its market.

“This transaction will enhance its capabilities and generate new development opportunities in line with the evolution of the sector.”

Vincent Albasini, Alayan’s CEO, said strengthening its business in Spain was a priority; “The addition of Valquisa and its director Francisco Poves Royo, as well as the future openings in Barcelona, Madrid South, and Valencia North, are the result of our commitments.”

Alayan is the equipment rental business owned by TESYA Group, which is the Caterpillar dealer in Spain, Italy, Portugal and other southern European territories.

Valquisa was founded in 1988 by Francisco Poves Nebra, the father of Francisco Poves Royo. Poves Nebra had also founded rental and sales company Maquinza in 1980. He retired in 2007, and his children, Beatriz Poves Royo and Francisco Poves Royo, took over both companies.

In 2020, the two businesses became completely independent of each other: Maquinza remained under Beatriz Poves Royo, and Valquisa under Francisco Poves Royo.
