Editor’s comment: some changes at KHL’s access and rental publications

It’s not often that we as editors comment directly on our own business, our strategy as a publisher. I make an exception here because we want to explain some positive changes to the rental and access industry magazines that KHL produces.

From January, we will update the mix of our printed and digital editorial content, in line with wider publishing trends and the changing needs of our audience and commercial partners.

This will mean that International Rental News (IRN), Access International and Access, Lift & Handlers (ALH) will be combined into a single publication called Rental & Access International (RAI), which will be published eight times a year.

The first issue of Rental & Access International will be published in January 2026.

The new magazine will have a wider global circulation, broader editorial scope, and higher frequency than any of the magazines it replaces, and it will have the same experienced editorial team of myself, Euan Youdale and, as our US editor, Lindsey Anderson.

This change is in the context of continued investment in our digital products. Last year we launched the daily Rental Briefing to add to our existing IRN and ERA Rental Weekly newsletters.

In the access sector, our digital offer will be enhanced by the addition from January of a weekly Access Briefing newsletter, which joins the Access International newsletters (global and North American editions).

The separate www.internationalrentalnews.com and www.accessbriefing.com websites will continue as before. 

Rental & Access International (RAI) magazine will be the official magazine for both the European Rental Association (ERA) and the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF), and we thank both associations for their continued support.

Euan, Lindsey and I are committed to reporting on the global rental and access industries: it’s what we’ve been doing for a combined 60 years.
