UK-based company Facelift has become the first company in Europe to order the new Aspen Aerials A62 underbridge inspection unit from Versalift.

Part of the AFI Group, Facelift specialises in vehicle mounted platforms and ordered the new Aspen A62 Bridge Inspection Unit shortly after its launch onto the market earlier this year.

The unit is mounted on a Volvo FM 420 8x4 sleeper cab and includes a heavy duty-generator that powers the platform.

Requiring no outriggers and with counterweights that remain within the width of the truck body, the unit can be set up in a single traffic lane.

Versalift said, “The Aspen A62 enables operators to make optimal inspections, review bridge conditions from above, alongside, or below, and is purpose-built for European bridges.”

The model’s key feature is an interchangeable platform giving, which allows operators “to switch between a regular inspection basket and a work platform with two options”.

With a basket capacity of 262kg, the machine’s Inspection Work option provides a horizontal underbridge reach of 18.8m and a vertical reach down to 20.6m.

A 3-stage Gantry Walkway option features a 680kg basket that can be used by up to 5 people and a movable step-up platform mounted on railing with a 2.1m reach.

Due to be delivered to Facelift in the fourth quarter of this year, the new machine will join the company’s fleet of inspection and gantry underbridge machines.

It will be used by the Facelift Highway Structure and Bridge Inspection Team, which supplies equipment and performs maintenance and bridge inspection services for highway and rail structures across the UK.
