Fearon gets top job at Genie Europe

“Europe now has a direct line to thepresident”, said Mr Fearon (pictured), speaking to AI at Genie Europe's Iheadquarters in Grantham, UK, “Thechange is a statement of Tim Ford'sview of the importance of Europe.”

With a background in mechanicalengineering, Mr Fearon is a 12 yearGenie veteran who for the past twoand a half years has managed Genie's four production plants and all productdesign activities in Washington State.

His responsibilities included managingthe project to start manufacturingZ–45 and Z–51 articulated booms inItaly ¨C Genie's first ever productionfacility outside of the US.

Mr Fearon told AI that Genie I “sees an enormous potential frommanufacturing in Europe. We see thecomplexity required, but our goal is tomake seamless the flow of equipmentto our customers. Going from adistribution business [in Europe] toa manufacturing and distributionbusiness requires a whole differentinfrastructure. I have the experienceand the ‘pull’ back in Redmond [tocarry it out].”

Regarding manufacturing ofscissor lifts in Europe, Mr Fearonsaid planning for that is at “finalanalysis” stage, with candidate sitesincluding Terex's plant in Coventry,UK, although the decision has not yetbeen taken.
