Genie widens Lift Guard Sense & Zone Lighting availability
26 October 2026
Genie is expanding the availability of its Lift Guard Sense and Lift Guard Zone Lighting options across more machine models and regions.
Lift Guard Sense is an overhead obstruction protective system designed to help contractors reduce risk while working near overhead hazards such as steel, ductwork, piping and structural elements. Originally launched in Europe on select GS slab scissor lift models, the hazard detection sensor system is now available as a factory-fit option globally.

In North America, it is currently available on GS-1432m and GS-1932m micro scissor lifts. It will be available on GS-4655 E-Drive scissor lifts by the end of 2026. In Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and the Asia Pacific region, it is available on GS-1432m and GS-1932m micro scissor lifts, Next-Generation GS slab scissor lifts, and the GS-4655 slab scissor lift. In Europe, it also is available on the GS-1332m micro scissor lift. Lift Guard Sense will be available as an aftermarket kit for all of the above models by the end of 2026.
When a potential obstruction is detected, Lift Guard Sense provides a progressive response.
- Escalating audible and visual alerts increase operator awareness of overhead obstructions.
- As the operator approaches the hazard, machine functions automatically slow.
- Function cut-off occurs when objects are too close.
- Controlled override capability allows operators to complete tasks with precision when conditions permit.
This layered response is intuitive and easy to adopt, said Genie, functioning similarly to an automotive proximity sensor system, and is designed to reduce sudden interruptions while helping reduce contact with overhead structures.
Lift Guard Zone Lighting is a perimeter lighting system designed to increase operator and adjacent worker awareness for collision prevention in the work zone. It was first introduced on GS slab scissor lifts and is now also available for GR Runabout vertical mast lifts.

It features red laser lights that create a visual boundary at ground level about 61 cm (2 ft) from the edge of the chassis. The bright beam is about 15 mm (0.6 in) thick and visible in any indoor lighting condition. The light uses a glass lens that will not fade over time, unlike plastic LED lights. This helps operators see the perimeter clearance and signals nearby workers that they may be entering the scissor lift’s work zone.
Both options are available asactory-installed options and aftermarket retrofit kits.
“Employers are increasingly focused on collision and entrapment avoidance, as well as dropped object protection,” said Corrado Gentile, Genie product director for scissors and verticals. “Providing information to the people working on or around scissor lifts and vertical lifts helps increase awareness of their surroundings, potentially reducing the risk of these types of incidents.”
