Genie's 566 kg boom gives 'more to rent'

The use of additional counterweight - the same as used on the S-65 model - plus a new automatic envelope control system, means that unrestricted capacity on the S-60 HC is 750 lb (340 kg), with restricted capacity rising to 1250 lb (566 kg). This top load can be achieved to an outreach of 40 ft 8 in (12.4 m). Capacity on the standard S-60 boom is 600 lb (272 kg).

Roger Brown, senior vice president of Terex Corp's AWP division, which includes Genie, said the new boom was a “global” product that would give extra capacity to trades that need it; “We are giving our customers more to sell and more to rent.” The film and media industries in particular will benefit from additional capacity, said Genie. The HC option will be introduced on the other S-Series booms during the third and fourth quarters of 2006.

Genie also used the show to launch the new Genie branding being used for all the Terex telehandlers (as reported in AI, Jan-Feb issue). Roger Brown said that the single Genie branding in North America would lead to a “re-examination of how we do it in Europe”.
