Ramón Santamaría has been appointed as the new general manager of Spain’s largest low level access rental and sales company Liftisa.

Liftisa, which operates in Spain and Italy, and is owned by Ivan Pappel, was established 33 years ago, has a rental fleet of more than 2,000 units and has sold more than 7,000 units. The company also provides maintenance to around 3,000 machines each year.

Pappel, who also owns compact truck mount and crane specialist Gloobal, explains that under the company’s slogan ‘working at height, zero risk’, its mission is to minimise accidents involving falls from ladders, podiums and scaffolding.

“It is a great satisfaction, for me and for the entire Liftisa team, to have a top level professional like Ramón,” said Pappel. “With his inclusion, we have made a great leap to be more efficient, to be closer to our customers and help them to work with maximum safety and efficiency.”

Santamaría has extensive experience in global and commercial management across a range of markets, such as rental, leasing, distribution and after-sales, mainly of platforms, forklifts, as well as other machinery.

He has worked in Spain, Portugal, France and Italy, leading company expansion initiatives, and taking on strategic, commercial and operational responsibilities.

Santamaría worked at the Linde Group for nine years where he became sales director in Spain. He also spent more than four years at Nacanco Spain as commercial and marketing director, five years at Hune Rental, where he became commercial director of the group, and has been sales director for Spain at Still, among other positions.

Santamaría added, “It is for me a great satisfaction and a great challenge, to lead a company that began more than 30 years ago, which is being constantly updated and provides new alternatives to improve safety and efficiency in work at height, with the aim of making Liftisa the leading company, and one to follow in the sector.”
