Mateco opens ‘blueprint’ hub in Romania

Rental company Mateco has opened a new regional operational hub in Lași, Romania. The greenfield facility is the start of a modernization of the company’s locations in the country and will be a blueprint for its operations throughout central and eastern Europe.

The next phase of the modernisation will target key locations in Romania, including Cluj-Napoca, Brașov, and Constanța, eventually covering all 11 Mateco depots in the country. The company’s Romanian rental fleet comprises 4,500 units.

The facility has been designed to optimise heavy-machinery logistics, significantly reduce carbon emissions through efficient workflow design, and improve safety standards.

There is a spacious machinery reception and loading area and modern maintenance bays in the warehouse area that will reduce repair and servicing timelines.

“The CEE market, and Romania in particular, is experiencing dynamic industrial and infrastructure growth,” said Cristian Hiver, general manager of Mateco Romania.

“Moving our operations to a custom-built, international-standard facility allows us to keep pace with our partners’ large-scale projects. For our clients, this translates into unprecedented operational speed, enhanced on-site safety, and seamless technical support.”

The opening was attended by owner Pascal Vanhalst and its director for central and eastern Europe, Anthony Pille, alongside suppliers and regional business leaders.

Mateco has 3,500 employees and operates a global fleet of over 45,000 units across more than 212 locations in 15 countries in Europe and South America.
