Moody retires from GTAccess
03 July 2024
Industry veteran Steve Moody is retiring from major UK access rental specialist GTAccess this year to seek a new life on the beaches Thailand.
Moody will continue working part-time as a consultant for GTAccess covering various aspects of his previous role.
With a long and varied 39 years within the access sector, Moody has been around the industry from the very early days of powered access platforms to the thriving business it is today.
His career started in the access industry in 1985 with a two-year telesales apprenticeship with Stephen & Carter, which specialised in the hire and sales of aluminium towers, tubular scaffolding and ladders, before being promoted into a direct sales role with them in 1986 after only 12 months into the scheme.
In 1989 he was approached by Instant Zip-Up, which mainly offered aluminium towers for hire and sale, but who were also moving into powered access as a distributer for UpRight, a North American manufacturer offering predominately scissor lifts at the time.
Varied career
Moody had various roles within the organisation over 14 years, such as regional sales representative, branch manager, northern sales director and only left as UpRight restructured their worldwide franchise agreements, making his role untenable.
He then joined Geoff Till Access as Sales Director and stayed for three years before leaving in 2006 to form his own company, Safe 2 Reach, a specialist access sales company.
In 2009, Moody rejoined GTAccess as part of the sales team and over the last 15 years has worked his way up to the position of Sales Director, during which he oversaw every aspect of the sales and marketing of a rapidly expanding company, who is now one of the UK’s largest independent access providers.
Jonathan Till, Managing Director of GTAccess commented, “I have known Steve for all of my ‘access’ life, some 36 years, firstly as a customer, then as a colleague but mostly as a friend. We will miss his experience and enthusiasm but he will still be around in the background to assist with our continued growth.
“We wish him every success in this new chapter of his life.”
