Snorkel UK upgrades A62JRT boom

The updated A62JRT rough terrain articulated boom has a new Stage V compatible engine.

Access manufacturer Snorkel UK has upgraded its A62JRT rough terrain articulated boom with a new Stage V compatible engine.

The new compact model, which completely replaces its predecessor machine of the same name, now features a Kubota V2403 diesel engine and improved hydraulic circuits. According to Snorkel, these improvements provide users with up to 50% lower fuel consumption than the company’s older model.

Retaining a maximum working height of 20.8m and maximum lifting capacity of 227kg, the A62JRT has also been equipped with Snorkel’s standardised control system and diagnostic display. According to the manufacturer, this will make maintenance servicing and troubleshooting easier.

In designing the new A62JRT, the manufacturer said that it had focused on “commonality” in order to increase familiarity across its product range for both operators and service engineers.

In addition to the diagnostic display, which is included in most of the company’s boom lifts, a newly incorporated tri-entry boom platform brings the product in line with Snorkel’s 400S/460SJ and 600S/660SJ mid-size telescopic booms.

While the model still offers hydrostatic four-wheel drive for rough ground conditions, a new joystick arrangement is said to give users a more ergonomic experience than its previous variant.

For rental customers, the zero tail swing model now includes a six-bolt platform release for fast replacement in case of damage, and removable floor sections for quick repair and replacement between hires.

While the upgraded A62JRT is now in full production at the company’s UK manufacturing facility, it is now available to order by customers for use worldwide. 

Snorkel added that a Tier 3 engine option would still be available for territories that require it.

The A62JRT now has the same tri-entry platform as Snorkel’s mid-size booms.
