The Philippines has received its tallest ever telescopic boom lift, with a construction equipment rental company taking delivery of a super boom from manufacturer Genie.

Hastings Motor Corporation, which already has the SX-135 telescopic and ZX-135 articulating models in its fleet, added the country’s first Genie SX-150 machine - a model that delivers a working height of 48m (152ft) and an outreach 24.8m (80ft).

A 3m (10ft) rotating jib and a retractable and extendable XChassis means the SX-150 also provides a narrow profile for easy transport and ensures stability on site, allowing it be used “for even extreme construction applications”.

Eric Espiritu, General Manager of Hastings Motor Corporation, said, “Clients were looking for a manlift higher than our existing line, which was not available in Philippines. We believe we can be a stronger company if we can have a higher platform readily available for the first time here in the Philippines.”

Located to the south of capital city Manila and offering a range of construction equipment - including cranes, excavators, lighting towers, generators and loaders, Hastings MC chose to expand the reach capacity of its MEWP fleet with the unit in order to meet a rising demand for taller access equipment following the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to Espiritu, the next few years will see a strong rebound of the country’s construction sector - with road and rail infrastructure projects driving the increase in activity. Espiritu says this makes it an ideal time to invest in new equipment that will meet the productivity and performance needs of current projects, as well as future infrastructure-related jobsites.
