Graeber invests in fifth 180ft Genie boom
17 October 2023
Eight years after receiving its first 180ft working height Genie SX-180 super boom lift at Platformers’ Days 2015, Graeber Rentals has taken delivery of its fifth SX-180 super boom unit.
Graeber Rentals, which has a regional focus in Southern Germany, Switzerland and Austria, transported the lift to this year’s Platformers’ Days, held on 8 and 9 September in Karlsruhe, Germany, where it was first seen in public.
The SX-180 was introduced in 2013 at bauma Munich and is Genie’s highest reaching lift. Ten years after its introduction, it remains a popular choice for extreme jobsites, says the manufacturer.
Company owner Alexander Gräber said, “The high utilization rate of our original SX-180 and increasing demand in the commercial and power plant construction sector make this an ideal time to expand our portfolio in the large equipment sector, and the SX-180 boom lift is the perfect fit for that growth.”
A shorter transport length and lower machine weight were deciding factors for the purchase, added Gräberas, whic was handled through authorised dealers ATG Lift from Bietigheim-Bissingen and BSI, based in Dortmund.
About the SX-180
The SX-180’s working height combined with the boom’s jib allows it to cover a 90,600 cubic metre working area, and has a retractable X-Chassis, compact dimensions and four-wheel steering. Weighing 24,948kg, the SX-180 lift is the lightest in its height class, says Genie, making it a good alternative to truck mounted booms or cranes rented with an operator. It also has a horizontal jib rotation of 60° at height, delivering more precise positioning and 7.6m of additional working area from side to side without repositioning the machine.
