Mastclimbers & hoists: Safety alerts and unique designs

According to Alimak, customers are asking for more digital tools that improve product performance and user experience, as well as the integration of new technologies such as AI.

At the same time, the company is seeing growing demand in more mature markets for sustainable and energy-efficient solutions.

The focus on compact equipment comes into Alimak’s latest construction hoist, the new Levato 450, which was officially launched in August this year, represents a significant step forward in compact hoist technology, says the company, designed specifically to meet the needs of modern urban environments and renovation projects.

Advanced control

Apart from the compact footprint, there is enhanced energy efficiency through an optimized motor and drive systems that reduces power consumption without compromising performance.

In addition, there are improvements to ride comfort and safety through an advanced control system and smoother acceleration/deceleration to enhance the user experience.

A flexible modular design allows for easy configuration and integration with various site layouts and scaffold systems.

Maber has been setting its sights on accessories with the rental sector in mind. The new MBP1233 mast climber has a wide selection of accessories that increase functionality to meet the demands of the rental market.

“Previously, such accessories were not readily available, and rental companies often had to produce them independently. With this new range, we provide ready-to-use, factory-tested solutions that simplify operations for rental customers,” said the company.

Soon the company will release even more accessories for the MBP1233 including a new monorail, a range of parapet options, top protection, and multiple extension options.

A new construction hoist will follow shortly too in the form of the MBA2332, with a 2.4m platform and a C door.

Looking ahead, Maber plans to expand its product line by developing both larger machines with higher capacity and smaller models designed for lighter applications.

According to Alba (Canopy Brands Europe), customers are asking for reliability above all along with equipment that is easy to maintain, and that once removed from a construction site and serviced remains as close as possible to its original condition.

This year Alba has also been focusing on compact equipment with the launch of the PT 650 - a new generation transport platform that is compact yet robust for construction and renovation projects, and allows the transport of people and materials up to 650kg.

The easy installation, even on tubular scaffolding, and space-saving storage design are two key elements, while the square tube mast is compatible with other Alba hoists. Its convertible roof offers flexibility for material transport.

Then there is the company’s latest telematics remote control system and CPU-based automation with features such as a soft start and stop, frequency control, overload detection, and automatic greaser.

The company is now working on another model within the same family of transport platforms - the PT 3K. This new unit continues the line of large-volume load handling for pre-assembled structures and blocks commonly used in modern construction methods.

Unlike the PTB 3800, the PT 3K is a single-mast platform specifically designed to perform these increasingly demanded tasks with efficiency and stability. “These machines are key products for Western markets, such as USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand where high-capacity transport platforms are essential for today’s large-scale construction projects,” Alba added.

Solving for efficiency

According to Geda customers are looking for products that solve specific problems efficiently. “It is not just one major innovation, but many small, intelligent optimisations that make a product particularly attractive.”

Smart handling and logistics are also two key requirements, adds the company. “Devices that are easy to transport, store and assemble have clear advantages for us. Here, we consider the whole concept and not just individual points.”

Geda presented several new products at bauma 2025. One of these is the Shaft Lift –a personnel and material hoist.

The hoist is installed in and removed from the shaft without structural changes or damage and all components fit through standard doors (90 × 200 cm) and can be easily moved with a pallet truck. Yet it has a modular platform with load capacity of up to 1,300kg, a lifting height of 100 m and a speed of 40 m/min. And there are variable entry and exit options, the hoist can be individually adapted to almost any shaft.

Working safely

Focusing on safety, all Electroelsa machines are equipped with its parachute safety device, overload control system, remote control and a new safety device which ensures the presence and correct assembly of the bolts between the mast sections.

From a more practical standpoint, a major advance is the remote control system that allows those who rent or maintain the machinery to monitor an entire fleet at multiple, widely separated construction sites from their office, smartphone, or tablet.

A single technician can manage multiple service calls in a short amount of time simply by checking the machines from an app. This system allows the user to receive rapid assistance and thus reduce construction site downtime.

At the GIS show in Italy during September, the company launched the new EE PM-M10225 Eco and EE PM-M1225 Eco material and personnel hoists.

The first offers a load capacity of 1000kg and four different interchangeable cages, while the EE PM-M1225 Eco is a transport platform with load capacity 1200kg.

In line with another industry requests, electricity consumption for both is reduced by 30% compared to the previous models of the same size, hence the name Eco.

The company concludes, “Customers are looking for a supplier capable of listening to their needs and adapting products to these. Products must be reliable, good quality, safe, and technologically advanced.”

Affordable solution  Scanclimber introduced the SC2500 mast climbing work platform (MCWP) at Bauma. The new light-range MCWP was designed as an affordable - yet productive - mast climber, the company said. Scanclimber’s SC2500. The budget-friendly platform is available as a single mast with a length of 7m and capacity of 1340kg and twin mast platform with a length of 24.6m and load capacity of 2780kg. The lifting speed is a quick 8.4m/min, while the modular design is easily adaptable to different site requirements. It is also fast and easy to set up and can be set up or dismantled by a minimum of two people, reducing labour costs and downtime. The range of suitable applications includes traditional building work, industrial and prefab buildings, refurbishment projects, finishing and balustrade installation and busy city centres, being space-efficient in tight-access job sites.
